DIY: Wedding Invitation Ornament

You can make this as a wedding gift or as a one year anniversary gift for the wedding couple.

This would also make a wonderful gift for a baby shower or bridal shower - especially if the baby arrives in the winter or if it's a winter wedding.

Materials Needed:

  • Invitation
  • Paper Slicer or scissors & ruler
  • Fillable ornament
  • Ribbon
  • Pen

Instructions:

Cut the invitation into 1/4 inch strips.  Curl the strips around the pen and hold it there for a few seconds to ensure that the strips curl.  Fill the ornament with the curled invitation strips. Close the ornament and decorate with the ribbon

Before you place the stamp on your Save the Date or wedding invitations - The prices for most Postal Service mailing services changed on January 22, 2012.

The U.S. Postal Service just released the new 65 cent version of their popular wedding cake stamp to reflect this year's postage increases. The stamp, designed for invitations 2 ounces and under, was first introduced in 2009 as part of the weddings series.

FIRST-CLASS MAIL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Letters (1 oz.) – 1-cent increase to 45 cents
  • Single-piece letters additional ounce rate – unchanged at 20 cents.
  • Postcards – 3-cent increase to 32 cents
  • Letters to Canada or Mexico (1 oz.) – 5-cent increase to 85 cents
  • Letters to other international destinations – 7-cent increase to $1.05
  • Delivery Confirmation will be free for several parcel products as the Postal Service continues to make tracking an integral component of parcels mailed at commercial rate
